We've basically been on the market since 2009 and hosting was more of a side business for customers whose websites and projects we implemented back then. Over the years, we have worked with countless data centers and hosting companies and increasingly felt the need to do everything that bothered us about them ourselves — to live web hosting for our customers exactly as we would have wished for ourselves.

2015
- New generation of vServers with (from that point of view revolutionary) SSD caching
- Change of name from GbR to PHP-Friends GmbH
- Moving into our first real office in an Oberhausen business park
- The first vServer products with free DDoS protection, which is virtually not included anywhere at this time, are published at Firstcolo — we put our first rack servers into operation
2016
- Our free hosting is discontinued with a heavy heart. Due to immense demand, we are releasing a chargeable alternative product and hire our first employeeto meet the crowds
- Release of our SSD vServers while HDD storage is still the de facto standard on the market
- The Avoro label sees the light of day — at that time still operated by Harmony Solutions GmbH
2017
- The quality standard is increasing - we only rely on Data center SSDs, redundant power supplies, and redundant network uplinks. At the same time, we are beginning to “roll out” this modernization to all existing customers by rebuilding the old host systems accordingly or completely replacing them with new hardware
2018
- Our last host systems are moving from “Accelerated” to “FirstColo” — every customer now enjoys free DDoS protection
- We become a RIPE member and get our first own 1024 IP addresses
- Deploying our own network and anti-DDoS infrastructure to become more independent of the data center
- Start of work on the “dataforest” brand
2019
- April: Our third generation of vServers sees the light of day and sets new standards once again: As one of the first providers on the market, we rely 100% on NVMe SSDs in combination with (at that time) brand-new Intel Xeon Gold CPUs
- End of year: We take third place in the “Web Host of the Year” category and move to a larger business park
